The base of the plate is an inclined plane. It allows the food to collect in one place. As a further support, there is a small overhang at this point that makes scooping up food much easier: it prevents the food being pushed over the edge of the plate. The anti-slip ring built into the base of the plate is very important to ensure that the plate remains firmly in place. This turns the plate into an activating one-handed plate.

The wide plate rim, available in many different colours, helps with orientation at the table, as the contrast makes it easier for partially sighted people to see their plate on the table. A raised dot under the rim of the plate provides orientation. To offer the greatest possible flexibility, there are three sizes of plate available.
