The days of sippy cups and nose-cut cups are numbered - thanks to the mug with special features. The stylish alternative cleverly conceals its supportive function in the design so that the mug cannot be recognised as an aid from the outside. This prevents people from rejecting the drinking aid from the outset or feeling stigmatised and therefore uncomfortable when using it.
The special inner cup, which is shaped like an ice-cream cone, means that the head does not have to be tilted back or the arm raised sharply when drinking. This is because the drink flows into the mouth automatically with just a slight tilting movement. The cup therefore allows people with limited neck and arm mobility or who are sitting semi-upright to drink independently. The cup can also be used intuitively, so the user does not have to pay attention to how they hold the cup and bring it to their mouth; they can drink from any point on the drinking rim. Additional safety is provided by various ORNAMIN drinking lids, which can be used to dose the amount of liquid.
The large, ergonomic handle of the mug supports people with limited mobility in their fingers, lack of strength in their hands and a lack of hand closure. It offers various options for gripping the mug: either with an open hand in the handle, gripping the mug, or gripping the handle with all fingers. The thumb rest can also be used to provide additional stability. The comparatively low weight of the mug proves helpful when there is a lack of strength in the hands and arms. The shape of the mug with its large base ensures that it is particularly stable: nothing tips over easily, even if the mug is pushed across the table or accidentally bumped.
Thanks to an insulating layer of air between the inner and outer mug, drinks in the mug with internal cone also stay at the desired temperature for longer. This gives people who drink slowly more time to enjoy their hot drinks warm and their cold drinks cool. This effect can be further enhanced by using ORNAMIN drinking lids.
The mug is available in many beautiful colours. The inner mug is white so as not to change the colour of the drink. This also makes the drinking rim particularly easy to recognise. The two-colour look helps people with impaired vision or dementia in particular to drink independently.
All in all, the mug with internal cone enables people with disabilities to enjoy their drinks independently and stylishly at their own pace. Drinking enough is of enormous nutritional and physiological importance, especially in old age. In addition, independent drinking promotes muscle tone and mobility and has a positive effect on the self-esteem of the person concerned. It also relieves the burden on both carers and family carers.
